Africa-Press – Kenya. Kirinyaga senator James Murango has been elected chairman of Senate Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries committee.

His Embu counterpart Alexander Mundigi has been elected vice chair of the committee.

They were elected unopposed.

Murango has thanked the members for trusting him with the position and promised to lead the committee fairly.

“Being my first time to chair a Senate committee, I will heavily rely on the experienced members and secretariat to steer this committee,” he said.

Murango is the immediate former majority leader in the Kirinyaga County Assembly.
