Africa-Press – Kenya. Gusii Stadium is poised for a tense Premier League Round 28 encounter on Saturday as Shabana welcome Kakamega Homeboyz in a fixture that could significantly reshape the top-three race.

Homeboyz arrive third on 46 points, while Shabana sit fifth on 43.

The build-up has carried a measured tone, with neither camp overstating the occasion despite the mounting pressure as the season edges toward its conclusion.

Homeboyz forward Oliver Majaka has stressed the need for clinical finishing, noting that the match is likely to be tightly structured with limited opportunities.

“This is not a game where you get many chances. The ones that come have to be taken properly. The margins at this stage of the season are very small,” Majaka said.

He also pointed to the importance of focus during transitions, an area he expects will shape the contest in Kisii.

“Once concentration drops, recovery becomes difficult. We have prepared for quick changes in possession,” he added. “It will come down to small moments.”

Shabana midfielder Keith Imbali struck a similar note, underlining the importance of structure and composure against a disciplined opponent.

“Matches like this are not about isolated brilliance. The structure has to remain intact even when the game becomes intense. Homeboyz are efficient when space opens up,” Imbali said.

He highlighted the importance of timing in attacking phases as a decisive factor.

“Opportunities will be limited, so execution has to be sharp. Details will matter most,” he said.

Homeboyz head coach Patrick Odhiambo has called for discipline and consistency across all phases of play, warning against lapses in concentration.

“Discipline throughout the match will be important. We need to stay consistent in how we manage the game,” Odhiambo said.

“Small mistakes can change everything.”

He added that control of rhythm and composure under pressure will be crucial.

“The team that manages key moments better will have an advantage. Focus for 90 minutes is essential. We have to manage the match properly,” Odhiambo concluded.

Shabana head coach Andrew Ongwae, meanwhile, emphasised the need for balance between intensity and structure, particularly in transition phases.

“Intensity has to be controlled with discipline in shape. We understand the demands of this match. Decision-making will be very important,” Ongwae said.

He also stressed the importance of quick reactions when possession changes, noting its influence on attacking efficiency.

“Transitions have to be handled quickly,” Ongwae said. “Delays reduce effectiveness. The players know what is expected.”
