SpaceX files confidentially for IPO that could be largest in history

Africa-Press – Kenya. SpaceX has confidentially filed for an initial public offering, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, in a move that could pave the way for the largest stock market listing in history.

The Elon Musk-led company submitted a draft IPO registration statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission and is targeting a June listing, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter. The timing would put it ahead of potential market debuts by artificial intelligence rivals OpenAI and Anthropic.

SpaceX could seek a valuation of more than $1.75 trillion, following its earlier acquisition of Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI, which valued the combined entity at $1.25 trillion, according to the report.

Bloomberg said SpaceX is working with several international banks to manage IPO orders across regions. Citigroup is coordinating roles, with Barclays overseeing the United Kingdom, Deutsche Bank and UBS handling Europe, Royal Bank of Canada managing Canadian orders, Mizuho Financial Group covering Asia, and Macquarie Group focused on Australia.

The company is also considering a dual-class share structure that would give insiders, including Musk, greater voting power, the report said. It added that SpaceX may allocate as much as 30% of the offering to retail investors.

SpaceX is the world’s most prolific rocket launcher and a dominant player in the space industry through its Falcon 9 rocket, which carries satellites and people into orbit.

It is also the leading provider of low-Earth orbit internet services through its Starlink satellite network, which serves millions of customers worldwide.

The company’s rocket launch business and Starlink operations are expected to generate nearly $20 billion in revenue in 2026, while xAI is projected to contribute less than $1 billion, according to the report.

Musk has said SpaceX is focused on establishing a base on the Moon before pursuing its longer-term goal of sending humans to Mars.
