Stop lamenting! Raila tells Ruto as he leaves the country

Africa-Press – Kenya. Azimio leader Raila Odinga has called out the Kenya Kwanza government over its unceasing complaints since taking office.

In a statement on Sunday via Twitter, Raila told President William Ruto and his administration to stop the unending expressions of disappointment.

“Can William Ruto and Kenya Kwanza stop it with the lamentations?” Raila posed.

He accompanied the statement with an announcement that he was leaving Kenya for a visit to several countries beginning with India.

“Baba has left the country for a week’s visit to several nations starting with India. See you all when I’m back,” Raila said.

Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have been lashing out at Raila saying he is to blame over what they termed as the sorry state of the country.

They accused the ODM leader of abandoning his oversight role during the Jubilee government’s reign and allowing public coffers to be looted.

On Saturday, Gachagua said the Azimio la Umoja Coalition leader should go slow on his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He said this is because Raila was accusing them for the ills that were perpetrated under his watch and he shouldn’t be pointing finger’s at them.

He said Raila should limit his criticism on the government of day as it tries to fix the ills perpetrated by the Jubilee administration.

“Had you done your job of correcting Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, we wouldn’t be here today,” Gachagua said during the commissioning of Thiba Dam in Kirinyaga county.

“You abandoned your duty to oversight government, serikali ikaporwa. Sasa unalalamika bei iko juu na wewe ndio uliwacha kazi yako ukawachilia wakora wakaiba pesa yote ya Kenya,” he added.

(…the government was looted. Now you are complaining about high cost of living and it’s you who abandoned your work and left people to loot all the money)

On Sunday, President Ruto told opposition leaders to stop expecting too much too soon from the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He said the new regime inherited a bad economy rife with poor management of public funds and it will take longer to fix and put things back on track.

“Wale ambao tulishindana na wao, mimi nataka niwaambie watulize boli. Mambo bado, uchumi ilikuwa imesabaratika tuko na madeni kutoka hapa sijui mapaka wapi,” Ruto said.

(Those who competed against us, I want to tell you relax. It’s still early, the economy was bad and we have too many debts)

The President was speaking on Sunday during an interdenominational church service at Green Stadium in Kericho county.
