Africa-Press – Kenya. THOUSANDS of Kenyans have gathered at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University grounds in Bondo to attend the final memorial service for former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
The solemn ceremony, attended by leaders from various countries, is being held today as part of the national farewell to the veteran politician, who served as Kenya’s long-time opposition leader.
Odinga, who ran for the presidency more than five times without success, remains one of the most influential figures in Kenya’s political history, widely respected for his decades-long struggle for democracy and reform.
Later this evening, his body will be laid to rest at the family cemetery located on their ancestral land in Kang’o ka Jaramogi, Bondo, in western Kenya.
