Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenyatta University Titans will miss the services of Gaudencia Achieng for the crunch matches against Strathmore Scorpions and Blazers in the women’s hockey Premier League matches this weekend.

The dynamic midfielder is away for personal reasons according to coach Richard Wandera who termed her absence a ‘big loss’.

“It is unfortunate that Achieng won’t play a part in the matches. She is a crucial member of our team therefore, we will have to find solutions within the squad.

The league returnees are yet to win a match this season after playing four matches.

The Titans lost their opening match 1-0 before drawing 0-0 in the varsity derby against the University of Nairobi. The team got a reality check following the 6-1 thumping of the Lakers but got a lifeline after salvaging a point against Sailors last weekend.

“We will put our best foot forward. We will start as underdogs obviously but we believe we can get a result against the big teams. Individual mistakes were costly in the last matches. we need to minimise our mistakes,” Wandera observed.

He added: “We have met with Strath at the KUSA games so we have a rough idea of how they play. They are the defending champions but anything can happen”.

These will be the Titans’ last matches before the university breaks for the long holidays.
