Tuju Disputes Crisis Meeting Reports, Announcing Jubilee Leaders Meeting Today

Africa-PressKenya. Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju on Monday, July 19 confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that Jubilee Party top brass has convened a meeting to be held at their headquarters in Pangani from 11 am. Tuju, however, disputed reports of the party holding a crisis meeting in light of the latest infighting that rocking the ruling party.

On details of the meeting, Tuju refused to divulge anything further but stated the resolutions will be made public once the meeting is done.

Tuju stated that the meeting has been convened by the National Executive Committee (NEC) which brings together the top leaders of the party.

NEC is the nerve center of the Jubilee Party with sweeping powers to enforce every action taken by the party and Vice-Chairperson David Murathe is one of those expected to attend.

On paving the way for fresh leadership, Tuju stated that he cannot engage with politicians pushing that agenda without following the proper Jubilee Party channels.

Tuju argued that it would be wrong for him to engage politicians pushing for his ouster through either the media or social media instead of addressing them via the right channels.

Kieni MP Kanini Kega is one such politician as he blamed Jubilee’s top leadership for the recent defeat in the Kiambaa by-elections. Kega stated that top leaders of the party need to pave way for fresh leadership.

He blamed Jubilee’s Secretary General Raphael Tuju and Deputy Vice Chair David Murathe for failing to offer leadership during the polls which led to the defeat.

He argued that they failed to show up on the ground and offer support to Jubilee candidate Kariri in Kiambaa.

Garissa Town MP Aden Duale stated that Jubilee Party had lost its structure. He claimed that the key organs of the Jubilee Party ceased to function.

Duale added that Jubilee cannot prevail past 2022 and that members who have quit cannot continue to be associated with a party which has serious structural problems.
