Africa-Press – Kenya. Twinkle hockey club assistant coach Emmanuel Wiswa will take charge of the team on interim basis after head coach Charity Miller decided to step down from the role.

Dennis Mwanzo, Miller’s first assistant, also quits as the management mulls over a long-term appointment as soon as possible. The newbies who ply trade in the Super League, are second in the 10-team league with 14 points from seven matches.

“We are sad to see Miller leave but we respect and understand her decision,” Simon Mwangi, the club CEO, said adding: “She leaves with the sincerest thanks and best wishes of everyone at Twinkle HC after exceptional service to the club.”

Miller is credited for working tirelessly in developing a competitive squad that is tasked with challenging for promotion to the Premier League in the first time of asking.

“She is always welcomed back to the team because she has demonstrated professionalism,” Mwangi added.

On her part, Miller said it was a personal decision to quit:“After a lot of thought and deliberation, I have decided to leave the club. It has been a real pleasure to work with a great group of people and I have made some long-lasting friendships. Thank you for the opportunity granted and above the memories with the team. I will cherish them forever”.

Club president Boi Kiplani said: “As the president of the club, I would like to say a big thank you to Miller for instilling a winning culture into the team. She has done a commendable job and wish her best of luck in the future endeavors”.
