Uhuru, Raila yet to accept election outcome – MP Kiringa

Africa-Press – Kenya. Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Kiringa has said retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga are yet to come to terms with the fact that Kenyans made their independent decisions in the elections.

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview on NTV, the MP said the opposition has not yet accepted the election outcome five months later, which he says has led to the current outcry by Raila.

“Odinga, Uhuru Kenyatta and those guys have not accepted the fact that Kenyans moved on a long time ago, that Kenyans can make an independent decision on how they want to be governed and the issues they want to be addressed by their government. That happened on August 9,” Kiringa said.

He questioned the timing of Raila’s public remarks on matters to do with election rigging claiming that the opposition is still in shock.

“Why is it that five months after elections is the time Odinga is coming to claim that elections were rigged? Why? it is because it was a huge shock that Kenyans can say no to those who are in power with money and who have held the country’s system for the last sixty years,” Kiringa said.

He said pressure from President William Ruto’s resolve on tax collection has played a part in how the political elite is reacting.

The MP said the Kenya Kwanza government is fully focused on the delivery of promises to farmers.

“We are also fixing the coffee sector and milk business. Farmers must get their money,” he said.
