Ulinzi hope Imo will be fit to play in final against champions NCPB

Africa-Press – Kenya. KDF Ulinzi are hoping that dangerman Kevin Imo will be fully fit for the Kenya Handball Federation Super Cup finals against champions National Cereals and Produce Board on Thursday.

The soldiers’ coach Nickson Oyaro said his talisman, who pulled out of the semi-final, which they won 33-26 over Black Mamba, is in a race against time to be fit for the match.

“Imo injured his ankle in the semi-finals and I immediately withdrew him from the game since I didn’t want him to aggravate the injury,” said Oyaro.

Oyaro, who masterminded Ulinzi Sharks’ 33-26 win over champions Nairobi Water Queens, said he is aware of the threat posed by NCPB. This was Water Queens’ first defeat in 12 years.

“They are a seasoned team that has played together for a long time. I have watched them play and we have been working on how to counter them,” he noted.

“We have trained well and continue to polish our mistakes from the group games ahead of that crucial game. We will see how it goes.” Coach Brian Mathews, who handles the two NCPB sides, exuded confidence that he has trained well and his target is to win both matches.

The two giants who finished n the first two positions in the just concluded national league battled to a grueling 30-30 draw in the final fixture of the season. This decider will be preceded by another top women’s clash pitting champions Nairobi Water Queens against NCPB. The games tip off at 2pm
