Africa-Press – Kenya. Moiben Member of Parliament, Silas Tiren, has made a u-turn after revealing that he is backing Deputy President William Ruto’s bid to become the fifth president of Kenya.

Speaking at an event on Wednesday, January 12, the legislator, who has been been a vocal critic of the DP, revealed that he was taken by surprise after being accused of ganging up against Ruto during the rally held at Eldoret Sports Club on Saturday, January 8.

Further, Tiren noted that he had no qualms with the DP, adding that he lacked the capacity to undermine Ruto’s stab at the presidency.

“That’s not true. I am a small person and I have no capacity to fight Ruto politically,” he explained.

Tiren went on to state that he was not interested in the presidency and asked Ruto to join hands with him so that he can help his constituents.

However, the Moiben lawmaker, who is a close ally of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, did not divulge whether he would seek re-election on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

“I am not interested in the presidency. Please give me chance to continue being your MP so that we work together,” he added.

Tiren, his Kesses MP Dr. Swarup Mishra, and Cheranganyi MP Joshua Kutuny have in the past been labeled as outsiders since they have never supported Ruto’s bid.

On Saturday, January 8, politicians who spoke at the DP’s rally which was held at Eldoret Sports Club castigated the three MPs while asking residents to vote them out.

Seats held by the Tiren, Mishra, and Kutuny have attracted a large number of aspirants who want to ride on the expected UDA euphoria in the region.
