We're ready for debate on conmanship with Jubilee - Sifuna

Africa-Press – Kenya. Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said that he welcomes the debate on conmanship with the Jubilee party.

This is after Jubilee legislators protested the removal of their members from the list of nominees to the Parliamentary Service Commission.

The Nairobi Senator and Minority whip Fatuma Dullo have been engaged in a spat over an alleged plot to kick out the Isiolo senator from the PSC job.

The minority coalition removed Dullo’s name from the list of nominees to PSC and she was replaced by Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni.

The motion to replace Dullo was unanimously endorsed by senators.

“A debate with our brothers and sisters from Jubilee on conmanship is one I would very much welcome,” he said.

On Friday, Sifuna disclosed a plan to remove Dullo on grounds of alleged “greed and gross incompetence”.

“From what she has done, her conscious should direct her to resign, otherwise, we are going for her,” Sifuna said.

The ODM secretary general accused Dullo of incompetence, saying the busy office requires a dedicated and competent person.

“She has proved it herself [incompetence]. She is grossly incompetent from the way she handled the affairs of that office. She has to go,” Sifuna said.

Dullo said that even if she is kicked out, the position will not go to any other party within the coalition as it is a preserve of Jubilee.

“He is used to arm-twisting and gang-attacking people. Let him try that elsewhere. He is bitter with me because he wanted that position and mzee [Raila Odinga], denied him,” she said.

“Sifuna must know how to relate with people. He is a junior member, only three months old in the House. He cannot make decisions for Azimio.”

Jubilee Parliamentary Group secretary Adan Keynan defended Dullo, saying the position she holds is a negotiated one and warned against blackmail and character assassination.
