Africa-Press – Kenya. A woman accused of obtaining Sh213,000 from a business lady on false pretense that she would help her land a tender at Kenya Prisons has been charged with fraud.
Sarah Muchuma Kwasakwa was charged before Kibera senior Principal magistrate Electina Rihany on Friday where she denied the charges.
She is accused of defrauding Mary Catherine Oduol Gumo after she allegedly promised to help her secure at tender to supply goods and services at the Kenya Prisons.
She is said to have told the victim to raise the amount so that they could partner in the deal.
The offence, the charge sheet says, was committed on diverse dates between December 2021 and June 2022 within Nairobi county.
The woman pleaded for lenient bail terms during mitigation saying she is a family woman.
The magistrate released her on Sh200, 000 bond with an alternative of a Sh130,000 cash bail.
The matter has been scheduled for mention on October 27.
