Kericho suspected case of Covid-19 tests negative

AfricaPress-Kenya: A 47-year-old man put in isolation at the Londiani sub-county hospital on suspicion of having been infected with Covid-19 has tested negative for the virus.

Releasing the test results carried on the man who exhibited symptoms similar to the coronavirus patients, Governor Paul Chepkwony said there was no cause for alarm.”Kericho residents shouldn’t have any fears or have any doubts. There is no Covid-19 case in the county,” he said.

County health Chief officer Dr David Ekuawam elaborated that the patient had been suffering from upper respiratory tract infection. “He is responding well to treatment for,” he said. However, the county has banned the number of people visiting patients at Kericho County Hospital to avoid congestion at the facility to curb spread of coronavirus.

The county has also banned hawking of foodstuff and open air cooking.To demonstrate preparedness to tackle the virus, Governor Chepkwony’s administration has approved the release of emergency funds to the departments of health, water, energy, environment, forestry and natural resources and public service management.
