AfricaPress-Kenya: 904 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 5,673 tested in the last 24 hours.
According to a statement from Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Thursday, April 22, 885 of the positive cases are Kenyans while 19 are foreigners. 519 are males and 385 are female.
The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 154,392 and the total number of tests done so far are 1,624,663.
The Ministry of Health also reported that 88 individuals had recovered,76 from various health facilities while 12 were from home based care.
At the moment, a total of 778,254 people have been vaccinated countrywide. Those above 58 years are 446,329. Health workers, teachers and security officers are 148,358, 119,161 and 64,406 respectively.
Regrettably, 20 succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of fatalities to 2,560.
Of the 20, 7 occurred on diverse dates within the last month while 13 are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits.
The distribution of cases in Counties is as follows; Nairobi 288, Mombasa 88, Meru 54, Nakuru 32, Kakamega and Busia 31 cases each, Uasin Gishu and Nyamira 29 cases each, Kericho 27, Kisumu and Nyandarua 23 cases each, Murang’a 22, Kitui 17, Tharaka Nithi 16, Baringo, Kiambu, Kirinyaga and Nandi 14 cases each.
Others are; Laikipia 13, Vihiga 12, Taita Taveta 11, Machakos and Kisii 10 cases each, Marsabit, Bomet, Kilifi, Embu and Siaya 9 cases each, Trans Nzoia 7, Bungoma and Kajiado 5 cases each, Samburu and Mandera 4 cases each, West Pokot and Kwale 3 cases each, Homa Bay and Isiolo 2 cases each, Nyeri and Lamu 1 case each.
1,507 patients are admitted to various health facilities across the country, with 6,834 on Home Based Isolation and Care.
There are 226 patients in the ICU, 52 of whom require ventilatory support and 144 who require supplemental oxygen.
