AfricaPress-Kenya: Two police officers are among seven people who have been put on mandatory quarantine for flouting curfew rules in Nyandarua county.
This brings to 16 the number of people who have been put under mandatory quarantine at Nyandarua high school quarantine center in Ol Kalou.
The two were among a group of people found locked up in a bar at Maili Kumi trading center in Ndaragwa sub county on Wednesday night.According to Nyandarua county commissioner Boaz Cherutich, the two who are stationed at Maili Kumi police post were found with five others while on a drinking spree.
“Our county response team got the information from members of the public and later moved to the scene. They found all of them locked in a bar. That is when they were arrested and moved them to Mairo Inya police station. They were later transferred to a quarantine center at Nyandarua High School,” he said.
He noted that they will cater for their own expenses and upon the completion of the 14 days, they will be arraigned in court to face charges.Cherutich said that the group joins nine others who had been arrested at Mirangine over the weekend.
He said that no one will be spared in the fight against the spread of Covid 19.“It is a shame that those mandated to enforce the law are the ones flouting it. We will not spare anyone despite their position in the society,” observed the county commissioner.
