Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenyan opposition leader for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Raila Odinga, adopted a new strategy, dropping henchmen from Luo backyard in a bid to spruce up 2022 presidential campaigns and craft a national outlook.
The opposition leader’s strategy is seen as a bold move to cast a national image and shake off Nyanza’s domination of his campaigns.
According to those around the ODM leader, Raila is going full throttle to muster a serious face of the country around him in line with his unity campaign, Amizo la Umoja (Declaration of Unity)
Strategy new faces
A lawmaker told the Star that Raila prevailed upon his backers from the Lake region to allow the newly acquired friends to run his Azimo la Umoja campaigns. But it does not mean that they have abandoned the larries.
According to the National Assembly minority leader John Mbadi, Raila has acquired new friends who should be given space to move with him as he campaigns, since it is foolish for him to continue preaching unity when he is still surrounded by the same familiar faces from his backyard.
Expectations
Member of Parliament for Saboti, Caleb Amisi, Raila’s confidant from Western revealed that the new face strategy will make the former Prime Minister Raila more appealing to Kenyans, and promised Kenyans to expect more unfamiliar and youthful faces occupying front rows during Raila’s engagements.
Raila’s team also believe that the new approach will help them to align to the realities of the modern centuries and thinking of the modern young person.
Raila is sending a very powerful message to the whole country that he is reuniting the nation through Azimo la Umoja. That can only be put in practice by being seen to bring leaders from across the country who have come together with him so that Kenyans do not see the normal usual faces around him.
