AfricaPress-Kenya: Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday, March 11, relayed the late Arthur Kinyanjui Kimani’s last moments before he met his death at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Mombasa.
Ruto, who was speaking during Kinyanjui’s burial ceremony in Nakuru, spoke about the late Kimani being in high spirits in days leading to his death.
The DP disclosed that Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri contacted him, and asked for his help to have his ailing son be flown to Nairobi for treatment.

The DP made the arrangements, but when he contacted Ngunjiri, he was told that the deceased was unstable, and so could not be flown.
“I later went to see him in hospital, and he was very cheerful. In fact, his doctors said that he was out of danger and was recovering well. They said that in one week, he would be out of hospital. We didn’t know that he was leaving us,” the DP stated.
On his part, Ngunjiri eulogised his son as a great confidant who always took care of the family.
“I remember the last barbeque you made for me before you were taken ill. Your marination was just the best. I will really miss our moments and how much you cared for your mother,” he said.
He also stated that Kinyanjui always gave him the best advise, and was never shy to critique him about his political decisions.
“I often felt like you were the best candidate to fill my shoes. Even when you were unwell you would still call and ask me how the political temperatures were,” he continued.
The 33-year-old succumbed to severe respiratory illness on March 1, 2021.
He was admitted in mid-2020 with a severe case of pneumonia which had resulted in him being diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
