AfricaPress-Kenya: Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga (pictured) has sworn in a new county service board and warned the members not to engage in wrangles.Speaking in his office yesterday, Mr Rasanga said past disputes between board members have injured the operations of the county. He said without a proper functioning board, most of the county government’s achievements will be watered down.

The newly formed board was sworn into office last week on Wednesday after being vetted and approved by ward representatives.Members include Elijah Achoch, who is the chairman, Magaga Alot, Joseph Rading, Joan Odawa, Anne Ludenyo and Margaret Oloo. They are from the six different sub-counties of Ugenya, Ugunja, Bondo, Rarieda, Gem and Alego Usonga.

Rasanga told the board members to always consult with each other instead of competing against one another.  “I want to encourage this board to also consult with all stakeholders in the county government, especially the Executive, in order to maximise on performance,” said Rasanga.

“We expect you to hit the ground running. I urge you to familiarise yourself with the county government by-laws. That is very necessary.” He noted that the former board’s operations were so acrimonious that even today court cases involving them tie the county down.
