AfricaPress-Kenya: FIFA has banned Kenyan football club AFC Leopards from signing players for the next two transfer windows.

This is after Ingwe failed to meet a 45-day deadline issued by the Dispute Chambers Resolution, concerning paying a reported Sh1.8 million debt they owed Rwandan midfielder Vincent Habamahoro.

The debt is said to have accrued in accumulated wages, fines, and damages in January.

“We wish to inform the parties that a ban from registering new players internationally has been implemented by FIFA at the beginning of the next registration period. Moreover, and in accordance with point 9. of the aforementioned decision, Debtor´s member association is requested to implement on the Debtor at the beginning of the next registration period, a ban from registering new players at the national level,” read a letter addressed to the club.

Habamahoro, who now plays for Kiyovu Sports Club in Rwanda, joined Ingwe in 2018, but left after five months, following four months without pay.

The ban cannot be appealed but can be lifted if AFC Leopards decide to pay Habamahoro fully.
