AfricaPress-Kenya: Kenya Pipeline on Thursday continued their impressive start at the women’s volleyball African Clubs Championship after edging out National Alcohol of Ethiopia 3-0 at Aissa Ben Nasr Arena in Kelibia, Tunisia.

Pipeline blew away the Ethiopians 25-15, 25-17, 25-7 in three straight sets to register their second win of the tournament.

The win saw the six-time champions move top of Pool B with six points.

Pipeline star Celestine Nafula said she was happy with how they have performed so far in the tournament.

“Our focus now turns to our next game. This win was important for the team to maintain our bright start and I hope we come out on top in our third match,” Nafula said.

On Wednesday, Pipeline saw off Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimomas in their opening match of the campaign at the same venue.

“We are happy we got the win against the Ethiopian side. We knew we could do it but it is not yet over. There is still a lot of work to be done to reach the knock out stages but we are grateful to be where we are now,” added Winnie Odhiambo.

Pipeline play AS Douanes of Burkina Faso on Friday 6pm EAT while Kenya’s other representatives return to court to play Tunisian champions CS Sfaxien from 10.30pm.

Meanwhile, Kenyan representatives at the men’s African Clubs Championship, the General Service Unit and Kenya Ports Authority head into the quarter-finals on Friday.
