AfricaPress-Kenya: Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Mombasa sub branch chairman Alliy Goshi has said stakeholders were not given an open ground to elect leaders of their choice and instead the federation imposed leaders on them.
“Election is a process where respective members are involved in crafting the code of elections in order to create a level playing ground where free and fair elections prevail,” said Goshi as he hailed the Sports Dispute Tribunal ruling.
“The purpose of competitive elections is to offer voters a choice between different philosophies and visions so that clubs can elect leaders of their choice.
“What happened last weekend during the County elections was coronation and not elections as explained by the tribunal chairman John Ohaga. Imagine out of 47 counties, elections were done in eight counties only,” he said.
Goshi said Mombasa welcomes Fifa normalisation committee with the hope of conducting credible elections.
Meanwhile, former FKF Nakuru County chairman Francis Oliele says he is ready for repeat elections after last week’s Football branch elections were annulled by SDT.
Oliele said his popularity in the branch with the clubs was unquestionable owing to his achievement for the past four years when he was County Secretary General.
“We have done what is needed to return Nakuru to its past glory. It involved exposure of players in a number of national tournaments, which resulted in some of them selected into junior and senior national teams,” Oliele said.
