AfricaPress-Kenya: Round two of the ninth and final Safari Tour tournament at Karen Country Club was briefly suspended on Monday due to heavy rain.
This was after the course was rendered unplayable by rains that pounded areas surrounding the Karen course, venue of the event.
After resumption of play, overnight leader Nigerian Andrew Odoh, who had started his round from the back nine, was one-under to take his lead to six-under in addition to his day score of -5 66.
Wet course condition were bound to present difficulties to the big field seeking to make a cut into the final two rounds as well as sneak into the money bracket.
Most of the bunkers were waterlogged as-well-as greens, which were waterlogged after the storm with most of those who started the second round earlier, almost done with their rounds of 18.
The skies opened up some minutes to 2pm, as speeds on the greens, which were playing fast to speeds of six, were expected to slow down to about 10.
Most of the game dynamics were highly affected after resumption of play.
Save for a few sloppy greens that drained immediately, the most affected ones were: green number three, 12, 13 and 18 but drained almost immediately after the rains subsided.
The trio of David Wakhu, Erick Ooko and Hesbon Kubwa finished their round being the first flight that set off at 11am on the front nine.
Ooko shot level-par after round two with Wakhu finishing with one-over after their second day outing.
“That was so much rain. Nobody expected it but we are glad we made it though the course was playing difficult today,” said Ooko
