Africa-PressLesotho. -Likhopo FC unveiled their new official Kappa jersey for the for the 2018/19 Econet Premier League (EPL) season that got underway this past weekend.

The jersey sponsorship is fully powered by Metropolitan Lesotho with a total of M60, 000.00 and the officially handover was held at Bambatha Tšita Sport Arena.

In this coming season, Likhopo will be seen with in dominant red and white colours for their home games while they will use dominant blue and white jersey for away games.

The collection consists not only of the home and away kit‚ but also a training jersey, tracksuit and training accessories. Likhopo debuted their new kit at the EPL opening match against Liphakoe FC at Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) playground on Sunday.

The newly elected Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) President, Mr Ikarabelle Sello said in recent years Metropolitan Lesotho has witnessed that the topmost clubs that usually compete in the Top four competitions (which is sponsored by Standard Lesotho Bank and Metropolitan) have been Lioli, Bantu, Matlama and the likes; while the majority of clubs do not feature in the tournament.

In an effort to revolve this adversity Metropolitan Lesotho noted that those teams that are usually competing in the Top 4 competition have technical kit sponsor on annual basis while the majority of the teams do not have such sponsorship.

“It is against this backdrop that six teams were identified which do not have such sponsorship namely; Likhopo FC, Majantja FC, Liphakoe FC, Swallows FC, Sefothafotha FC and Galaxy FC,” revealed Sello.

Speaking at the event, General Manager Metropolitan Health Mr Sepinare Lenkoe said each team had a budget of M60 000.00 out of which the teams were expected to use it for their technical benefits.

He indicated that each team was allowed to go and buy from any supplier either locally or outside the country. Thus, he said other teams haven’t finished buying.

According to Lenkoe this is one of Metropolitan initiatives of giving back to the society they are operating in. Going forward he said they are willing to have a long term agreement with PLMC but that he said will be guided by the financials standings.

Likhopo Public Relations Officer, Mr Katleho Mahamo welcomed the sponsorship citing that the money will be used for other needs of the team since as for the technical kit, they are sorted.
