Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) in collaboration with the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) commenced a week-long MA Elite referees’ online course on Monday.
As shared by Lesotho Referees Association Coordinator Mohau Sentšo, the course will run from 1800hrs to 2100hrs on a daily basis. Sentšo stated that it will be conducted online due to the ongoing pandemic and
revealed that it will be delivered to 35 participants from LeFA. He said participants will be instructed by different inspectors from neighbouring countries which were instructed by FIFA to offer this online
MA Elite course, those instructors consists of; Ms Gladys Mveemba from Zambia as a Technical Director and Mark Mzenga from Malawi as a Physical Instructor in
refereeing. “The Malawian and Zambian instructors will be assisted by local instructors Khotso Makhetha as a technical director and Selloane Mphuthing as a physical
instructor,” Sentšo said. The Referees’ Coordinator further said the objective of facilitating the MA Elite online course is to enhance the local referees’
knowledge of the game and to effect greater uniformity and higher standards of performance at the regional and international levels. He mentioned that the 35
participants will interact with the inspectors online as the use of information technology has made the global world a small village where people can learn and
share information through internet, using special software on the computer. “Participants will be assisted with data vouchers in order to interact with instructors more effectively since they will be accessing the
valuable refereeing information from instructors in a relatively greater distance. MA Referees consist of international referees such as Souro Phatšoane
who oversees at international competitions, Lesotho premier league referees, A Division referees and Women super league referees. It is very important that
the referees are given constant updates and a chance to refine their skills since it is the only way to enhance the local football fraternity,” articulated Sentšo.
