Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho Music Awards LMA this year promises an extraordinary show compared to the past award ceremony. The second edition of the Lesotho Music Awards brought by Lesotho Music Blog, in association with LesMusic, will be on the October 29 at a venue yet to be confirmed.

For this event artists will be required to register with a fee, and a rule book will be disclosed so that participants know what they are getting into – which is something new for this edition.

The stimulation behind this new adiition is said to give back to the industry and appreciate all the hardworking talent the country has to offer even during the pandemic, empowering Basotho artistes and motivating them to do more.

This year’s 11 categories nominees will not be selected by the LMA committee except for the Lifetime Achievement Award nominees, as organisors plan on selecting them and the people will allocate votes to see who deserves it most.

“Artists are definitely more interested than last year so it is already a bonus on our side, registration is likely to begin on the first week of August and end on the 2nd week of September where a two weeks’ process will be allocated to listen to the quality we strive to bring and obviously the quality needs to meet our quality control standards so we will be announcing nominees around the September 30 to October 1,” says the founder of Lesotho Music Awards 2021, Malibe Rethabisitsoe Mahao.

He further said this year the event is going to incredible as compared to the previous year because this year a things are a bit relaxed as compared to the last year where Covid-19 blocked a lot of opportunities, however this year they are planning to improve the event new heights.

The tickets will also be online tickets available for audience. Last year the winners were selected based on the number of votes they got from a voting system through the LesMusic Award website.

There were 17 categories and 126 nominees, namely; Album of the Year, Mix Tape of the Year, EP of the year, Best International Feature, Best Male, Best Female, Best Duo & Group, Best Music Video, Best Graphic Designer, Best Hustler, Best Lyricist, Best Newcomer, Best DJ, Best Producer, Listener’s Choice and Song of the Year.

This year some of the categories put at hold are DJ of the Year, Classic of the Decade, Best Lyricist, Best Hustler and Best Graphic Designer; the reason being that they want to give the 12 categories their outmost best and attention.
