Africa-Press – Lesotho. The ruling All Basotho Convention (ABC) party today held a rally in the Qeme constituency at Ha Ts’iame. Leaders of other political parties graced the gathering.
These include Basotho Patriotic Party (DPP) leader Tefo Mapesela, Alliance of Democrats (AD) leader Monyane Moleleki, Democratic Party of Lesotho (DPL) leader Limpho Tau, and Truth and Reconciliation Unity (TRU) leader Pitso Maisa.
The above line-up, watchers say, shows political alignments for potential a coalition government in the near future. Prime Minister and ABC deputy leader Dr. Moeketsi Majoro was nowhere to be seen.
ABC Youth Committee Chairperson Ts’oloane Maphasa, said they asked Majoro to step down as the Prime Minister of Lesotho ABC has a new leader who should be the prime minister.
“We will not force him to step down because we want him to do that on his own, we cannot have two centres of power in ABC,” said Maphasa.
On behalf of ABC MPs, Lekhetho Mosito said they are behind Nkaku’s leadership and they support him as the new leader of ABC as a sign of respect for people’s choice.
“Nkaku Kabi, led ABC truthfully and firmly and never forgot Dr. Thomas Thabane because he is the founder of this party,” said Mosito.
