Africa-Press – Lesotho. The 2025 African Political Parties Summit officially kicked of today at the Accra International Conference Centre, Ghana bringing together political leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across Africa and the Caribbean.
The Ethiopian ruling Prosperity Party’s high-level delegation led by Adem Farah, Vice President of the Party and Head of the Coordination Center for Democracy Building, with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister, is participating in the conference.
The Summit opens with welcome remarks, high-level statements, and cultural presentations.
The Opening Ceremony features key dignitaries including the host country’s President, John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana alongside other Heads of State and leaders from continental and international institutions.
The gathering is set to be the largest of its kind, serving as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas aimed at strengthening democratic governance and political cooperation across the continent.
The three-day summit, which runs from 12 to 14 August 2025, is expected to will feature a series of high-level discussions, panel sessions, and networking opportunities.
Moreover, delegates will deliberate on key issues such as regional integration, peace and security, inclusive governance, sustainable economic growth, and the role of political parties in driving Africa’s development agenda.
Several high-profile dignitaries are expected to participate in the event, including President John Dramani Mahama, Vice-President Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the President of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, Adem Farah, Vice President of Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party and the Vice-President of Liberia, Jeremiah Koung.
The summit will also welcome numerous political leaders, party officials, and representatives of civil society from across Africa and the Caribbean, reflecting its broad and diverse reach.
Organizers of the summit have emphasized its importance in fostering inter-party dialogue and strengthening continental solidarity.
