As it happened: Cameroon inject energy into tournament, thumping Ethiopia 4-1

Africa-Press – Lesotho. Cameroon lit up a previously low-key Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday as they thumped Ethiopia 4-1 with braces from Vincent Aboubakar and Karl Toko-Ekambi – reminding everyone why they are among the favourites to win the trophy.

There were tears among the Ethiopia supporters at the end of the match, after they had taken the lead with a brilliantly executed goal in the 4th minute, stunning the hosts, only to see everything go against them.

Cameroon roared back with two magnificent goals each from Aboubakar and Toko-Ekambi – making the tournament hosts the first time to win with more than just one goal in a hitherto goal-shy Africa Cup of Nations.

This resounding victory also puts Cameroon into the knockout rounds with one match to spare.
