BAP vows to challenge unity Bill

The Basotho Action Party (BAP) leader Professor Nqosa Mahao told a press today the party is going to challenge The National Peace and Unity Bill of 2021 if it ever sails through parliament and they will gladly collaborate with whoever is willing to challenge the Bill with them.

Mahao said the National Peace and Unity Bill contradicts Section 18 of the Constitution of Lesotho which states that no law shall make provision that is discriminatory either of its self or its effect, and this is only usurping the powers that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)’s office is vested with by the same the constitution. Section 99 is clear that no one has power to withdraw or sue for criminal charges except the DPP.
