Africa-Press – Lesotho. The UNICEF Deputy Country Representative Dr. Bob Muchabaiwa has pleaded with the youth to be the voice of accountability speaking out loud when things go haywire in the country.
Dr. Muchabaiwa stated this during the Regional Networking Pitso courtesy of Development For Peace and Education (DPE), where he noted that the youth should become a conscience of the society, as some things do not happen accordingly because the youth is silent therefore letting the country down, and pleaded with all young people to point the government, private sector and development partners in the right direction.
”Lesotho is facing several challenges, not only the high rate of unemployment amongst the youth, which the Prime Minister declared a national emergency, therefore as we are gathering here we need to ask ourselves as young people how we can contribute to the fight against unemployment”, he reiterated.
Dr. Muchabaiwa further touched the issue of inequality whereby other people have plenty while others have nothing to eat, noting the question should be how can inequality gap be bridged, and ensure that youth in all districts have access to opportunities, acknowledging the focus of the dialogue is not lamentation, but rather about what could be done to bring about needed changes in communities.
