Africa-PressLesotho. Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO) has on Monday denied the ongoing rumours that it has evicted businesses operating from its premises at

Sebaboleng. Addressing the media at the press conference yesterday BEDCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Idia Penane explained that those businesses will be relocated to another

location within its premises to make way for another big businessman. “We have also realized that this incoming entrepreneur will attract more customers who

will also buy from those businesses owned by Basotho operating in the same area,” she said. Penane said the employer will hire about 30 to 40 Basotho while also paying rent to

BEDCO. She said one of the benefits that the government will reap in the future include speeding up taxes because when a new business is established, it will

have to pay tax adding that the government, through BEDCO, cannot disappoint Basotho. She noted that one of BEDCO’s goals is to strengthen and grow Basotho

businesses and this decision to incorporate this large business was made because they recognized the benefits it will bring to the small businesses that

operate in this building. BEDCO Executive Head of Finance and Administration Chief Mokone said not all the tenants will be relocating but only 10 of them are expected to move to another

place. “So far there are some who are still moving to the new location and these are those without much stock. There are ongoing preparations for others

to start relocating,” he said. He further clarified that the expectation is that by September this year, the entire block should be vacant for the new business to move in.
