Africa-Press – Lesotho. Basotho Exquisite Modelling and Pageantry Agency (BEMPA) which commenced its operation in May 2020 has announced their upcoming anniversary which is set for a fashionable

celebration. BEMPA will celebrate through hosting a number of workshops aimed to empower the youth in Leribe district starting from early May. BEMPA had held a beauty pageant

competition in October 2020 after its inauguration. BEMPA Founder, Managing Director and Promoter Thapelo Shabe clarified that his passion of transforming the lives of youth in

Lesotho, particularly those in Leribe is finally bearing fruits. Shabe indicated that he has presently organized workshops with the objective of equipping youth with new skills and ways of earning a living through their

talents. Shabe said these programs will help in reducing stereotypes in youth, saying they put more focus on education which has been regarded as the only key

to success. Shabe disclosed that the core objective of the workshops is to instill in the minds of youth, new ways of thinking and doing things for the

betterment of their lives. “I have observed that most of the beauty pageant competitions are held in Maseru, so I thought it will be best if the youth

in other districts also have an opportunity to expose their talents too. BEMPA is mandated to help youth build their self-confidence, self-esteem and this skills

also come handy during their presentations at school,” Shabe enlightened. Showing a need for diversity in finding ways to earn a living, especial amid the wild-wide economic struggles, Sheba

emphasized that modeling opens room for proper career if undertaken professionally. “The advent of Covid-19 pandemic has made the situation worse in that some companies are facing closure whereas in

some places people are retrenched in large numbers thus increasing of high unemployment rate in the country. This is due to the countries’ economic decline caused by Covid-19.

” Shabe, however, urged the youth to engage in programs which will not interrupt with their studies as education is still vital in opening doors for them to accomplish their dreams.
