Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho Women’s Football National Executive Committee (NEC) President Baholo Motene received football equipment from the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) that was handed out to the

developing teams across the country on Tuesday. The association had gathered the District Football Associations (DIFAs) to distribute the equipment accordingly

at Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena. Motene congratulated LeFA for taking this initiative further and showed that everyone knows that women football in the country is not up to standard and requires utmost attention.

She said Lesotho does not perform well in its women tournaments. “Women football committee in its inspection tour around the country has found that the clubs are eager to play

football but there is no suitable or required equipment for them more especially for the developing teams. The equipment is now available for them to improve women football in the country; and it will be transferred to the teams

starting with the districts based in the central region and then to the north and south,” Motene said. She added that after distributing equipment to all clubs, the committee will not rest; “It will ensure that the equipment is

monitored together with the performance of the teams which need urgent support. The Women Super League has to be competitive, so that we have active tournaments in the districts to improve our women football,” said the President

of the Lesotho Women Football Committee. LeFA’s First Vice President and Leribe DIFA President Khiba Mohoanyane appealed to the office of the Technical

Director to visit all the 10 districts and conduct a study on the consistency of women football. “I would like you to go and learn why women football clubs do

not develop and expand. The clubs are faced with challenges of lack of the required equipment to conduct the matches this is why the association has ensured that all the equipment is provided to the teams,” Mohoanyane enlightened.

He added that the amount of money utilized to buy the provided equipment is M620 730. 00. Meanwhile LeFA’s Technical Director Leslie Notši indicated that the equipment will be disbursed to 81 women teams.

“These teams were selected because they are registered with their DIFAs and were

playing under the Women Super League last season. Each team will get 4 training balls and 2 match balls, playing kit, shin cards, bibs, markers, cones and goalkeeper gloves,” Notši added.
