Brokers association launched

Africa-Press – Lesotho. Advance Insurance Brokers Association (AIBS) was officially launched yesterday. The launch is part of efforts to publicise the insurance brokers association and to clarify the role of insurance brokers in the insurance industry.

AIBS chairperson Mashape Mosala said the association will help brokers a great deal since they will be able to share ideas on how to properly run this kind of business. The brokers will also familiarise themselves with the codes of conduct and professional ethics.

“As an association, we are going to make sure that all the brokers have traders’ licences and they have the physical offices and if brokers do not have any of this, the Central Bank will have to intervene,” Mosala said.

He further indicated that they will be continuously hosting press conferences and workshops for clients to inform and teach them in-depth about the role of the insurance companies since most people lack knowledge about them. There will also be brokers’ workshops and training to enhance and develop the broking business.
