Cabinet Principal Secretary flees

Africa-Press – Lesotho. KABELO Lehora, cabinet’s principal secretary, fled the country yesterday after he was called by the police. Lehora said he left the country because he feared the police would torture him.

He said DCP Paseka Mokete called him last week asking him to report to the office on Wednesday. He said when he arrived at the police head office yesterday afternoon he “sensed that something was wrong”.

“I could feel there was something amiss,” Lehora said.

“After waiting outside DCP Mokete’s office for a long time I was tipped off to leave the head office and leave the country.
“The person who tipped me said it would be better for me to leave the country.

” DCP Mokete however laughed off Lehora’s fears. He said he wanted to interview Lehora as a witness in the Lipolelo Thabane’s murder case.

“It was a simple interview for witnesses in the case in which former Prime Minister Thomas Thabane and his wife are being charged with the murder of Lipolelo Thabane,” DCP Mokete said.

“I am shocked that he has run away and left the country,” he said.

“It was just a routine interview called by the prosecution team. He was not the only witness to be interviewed. ” But Lehora said his fears are not without justification. He said this is not the first time that DC Mokete “has called me for an interrogation. ”

“The last time he interrogated me about the same case and I developed serious stress that caused psychological and heart problems that put me on months of medication,” Lehora said.

“That interrogation happened after Thabane had tried to put Commissioner Holomo Molibeli on retirement. Now they are calling me again after Prime Minister Majoro tried to put the commissioner on retirement. ” “I see a connection. ” Lehora was among a group of the All Basotho Convention (ABC) members who left the country with Thabane in 2015 and spent two years in exile.
