CAF Condemns Unacceptable Incidents in Al Ahly Match

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has strongly condemned the incidents that marred the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League clash between Al Ahly SC of Egypt and ASFAR of Morocco in Cairo on Sunday, 15 February 2026.

In an official statement released after the fixture, CAF described the occurrences as “unacceptable,” stressing that such behaviour has no place in African football.

Although details of the disturbances were not immediately outlined, the continental football governing body made it clear that it views the matter with utmost seriousness.

CAF confirmed that the case has been formally referred to its Disciplinary Board for thorough investigation.

The board is expected to review reports from match officials and other relevant evidence to determine responsibility.

The governing body further emphasized that appropriate sanctions will be imposed on any individuals or groups found guilty following the investigation.

CAF reiterated its commitment to ensuring safety, respect, and fair play in all its competitions, particularly in high-profile tournaments such as the CAF Champions League.

The match between the Egyptian giants and the Moroccan side was one of the standout fixtures of the round, but the post-match focus has now shifted to disciplinary proceedings, as CAF moves to safeguard the integrity of its premier club competition.
