Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China together with the Chinese community in Lesotho held a celebration in commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China in Maseru on Monday evening.
In his remarks, the Ambassador Mr. Yang Xiaokun said that since 1949, China has undergone profound transformation, lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty, achieving rapid modernization and making significant contributions to global development.
He indicated that China’s achievements are a testament to the resilience and determination of the Chinese people.
He stated that this celebration also recognises the value of friendship and cooperation with nations around the world showing that China remains committed to peace, multilateralism and building a community with a shared future for humankind.
He also wished for the occasion to inspire them not only to reflect on China’s story, but also to strengthen cultural exchanges, mutual understanding and friendship between peoples everywhere reaffirming China’s commitment to continue supporting Lesotho.
On behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Mr. Limpho Tau said that this celebration is not only a commemoration of China’s remarkable journey but also a celebration of resilience, vision and transformation.
He stated that China has proven itself as a genuine and reliable partner to Lesotho towards sustainable development which can be attested by visible projects across the country.
He delineated that Lesotho embraces the idea of building a Community of Shares future for Mankind which China has consistently advanced where cooperation replaces confrontation, fairness replaces domination and peace and prosperity are shared by all people.
The People’s Republic of China uses this anniversary to highlight its achievements in economic growth, technological innovation, poverty alleviation and global influence.
