Africa-Press – Lesotho. hinese Ambassador to Lesotho, Mr. Yang Xiaokun says Global Governance Initiative (GGI) is not only about ideas but it is about actions as it directs the way forward therefore China is committed to the implementations of the GGI.
Mr. Yang said this during a media briefing on Wednesday themed: “Global Governance Initiative and one year achievements of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China – Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
He said China will remain firm in safeguarding the international system with the United Nations (U.N) at its core and the international order underpinned by international law, stand firmly on the right side of history and join hands with all progressive forces in the world to build a community with a shared future for humanity and make relentless efforts for mankind’s noble cause of peace and development.
He indicated that with the world undergoing profound changes unseen in a century what they need is not confrontation but cooperation; not exclusion but inclusion and not walls but bridges saying the GGI is China’s proposal for building such bridges, for fairness, inclusiveness, effectiveness and shared progress with no exception to Africa and Lesotho.
He said China will uphold principles, embrace new ideas, stay open-minded and inclusive while adhering to the principle of extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefit and work under the framework of the GGI with all parties to enhance policy communication and coordination in order to build extensive consensus and enrich the methods and pathways for reforming and improving global governance.
“Let us uphold the vision of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. Let us work with the United Nations and all partners to implement the GGI and move the international order toward greater fairness and justice in line with the aspirations of the majority of countries and together advance the noble cause of building a community with a shared future for humanity”, he said.
Moreover, he reiterated President Xi Jinping’s core concepts of the GGI, namely staying committed to sovereign equality, international rule of law, multilateralism, the people-centred approach and real results. He said with sovereign equality, all countries regardless of size, strength or wealth have equal rights to participate in international affairs while international law and international rules should be jointly formulated, maintained and implemented by all countries without any exception.
