China donates millions and rice to Lesotho

Africa-PressLesotho. The government of the People’s Republic of China have donated rice and Millions of Maloti to the government of Lesotho. This is according to the Prime Minister Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane speaking at the press conference where he was making a statement entailing the insights of his recent official visit to China.

The visit which he said was divided into three segments. The first he said was the heads of African states meeting or conference with the head of state of China, Xi Jinpin, the forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

The second segment he said was his official visit to China where he visited China’s Head of state Xi Jinping as invited and later his deputy Premier Li Keqiang.

The third and the last round of his visit he said was the investors’ forum as organized by Lesotho embassy in Beijing China and Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC).

Reporting on his meeting with Premier Li Keqiang, he revealed that they agreed on cooperation on political affairs, business, and maintenance of peace and stability of the world “among many others.

We also tightened our commitment of immediate implementation of FOCAC forum decisions,” he said.

To implement this, Thabane said ministers of the two governments signed important agreements of cooperation in the agreement on a donation of RMB Yuan 150 million equating to M300 Million, an agreement on RMB Yuan 150 million worth Rice donation to Lesotho.

Another agreement he said was that of bringing experts in investigations to monitor the implementation and construction of fire Centre and grain storage towers projects, and Cultural Cooperation Agreement 2019-2021.

The fifth and the last agreement that was signed he said was that of financial support for Basotho youth’s education. The Prime Minister completed his statement by urging all the ministries to implement FOCAC decisions and the decisions from his meeting with China’s head of state Xing Jinping and his deputy Premier Li Keqiang. The implementation of this decisions he said is central to the success of this “important visit in the history of Lesotho.”
