Africa-Press – Lesotho. Business Doctors is an international Enterprise and supplier development that was founded by Matthew Levington and Rod Davies in the United Kingdom in 2004.
They established Business Doctors because they had experienced poor business services provided by both big consultancies and small independent consultants over the years.
Business Doctors was established to resonate into the market and add value to small medium businesses but, as it was growing the two gentlemen realised that their systems and models add value to large Enterprise’s market as well.
In an interview with Informative Newspaper, Business Doctors Head Learning and Business Development Ms Seeng Lerotholi who holds Masters of Philosophy in Management Coaching and Post Graduate, Diploma in Leadership Management as her highest qualifications through the University of Stellenbosch Business School, who practice as a Certified Business Coach and High Impact Leadership Development Facilitator explained more on the aim and importance of Business Doctors.
“In 2019 Business Doctors Southern Africa under the management of Steve Sutton expanded their footprint to Lesotho to help small, medium and large business with their unique systems and tools.
Their model is based on three areas which are Business coaching, Mentorship and Management Consultancy,” she noted. She mentioned that with Business Coaching is where they assist individuals or businesses to unleash their potential and maximise their performance.
Whereas their Mentorship programs encompasses two things which are incubation programmes that they run and acceleration programmes. She said they have businesses that are already in their incubation programme, these are businesses that were funded by the African Development Bank through Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO).
Lerotholi said on the Management Consultancy they do services like Strategy Formulation, Review and Execution, Human Resource (HR) related Solution Services and they even customise or tailor make according to their customer’s needs.
“Our models are generally based on coaching approaches; we want to give businesses or individuals ongoing support”, she said.
Lerotholi emphasised that as Business Doctors Lesotho they are still on the process of creating awareness in terms of teaching individuals and businesses (Large or Small) to understand the coaching concept and make use of it as their form of learning and development at work.
Coaching is a new concept in Lesotho and most people don’t know how to differentiate it from Counselling and Mentorship. “Coaching is good because people learn on their own and transformation emerges within an individual,” she said.
She also highlighted that under their incubation programme they already have small and medium sized businesses they have assisted from the idea generation stage to the growth stage while they are yet to tap into the acceleration stage.
They have Incubations which have been funded by the African Development Bank through BEDCO; they also have another one of which was funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through GEM Institute Creatives of Entrepreneurs.
She said as much as Business Doctors is still new, they still want to penetrate the market more. “Though Business Doctors is still new, the market is responding very well to us, we are going to have interns who will begin on July 01st and we already have an intern who did Administration.
We also have businesses that we are working with in terms of business advisory; we can say they are our associates since in as much as we learn from them, they are learning from us as well,” Lerotholi concluded.
