Africa-Press – Lesotho. The 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA zone qualifying draw is now complete.
The competition will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from August 22 to August 31, 2025.
Group A includes Zesco Ndola Girls (Zambia), Ntopwa FC (Malawi), Beauties FC (Namibia), and South African powerhouse and two-time champion Mamelodi Sundowns.
For both Beauties FC and Zesco Ndola Girls, this will be their first appearance at this point in the campaign.
Gaborone United Ladies FC (Botswana), Young Buffaloes (Eswatini), and Kick4Life (Lesotho), the qualifying finalists from the previous year, are grouped together in Group B.
The top-seeded Herentals Queens of Zimbabwe will play Olympic de Moroni of Comoros and CD Costa do Sol of Mozambique in Group C.
Competition Format
Along with the top runner-up, the group winners from each pool will go to the semi-finals.
The best second-placed team in Group A, which consists of four teams, will not be determined by performances versus the fourth-place club.
With their victories in the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2021 and 2023, Mamelodi Sundowns have a long history in the league.
To date, they have participated in all of the final tournaments.
Despite losing to the Green Buffaloes of Zambia on penalties in the COSAFA final in 2022, they were still able to advance as the reigning champions to the continental finals.
They did not compete in the qualifiers in 2024, as the regional competition was won by the University of the Western Cape (South Africa).
