Africa-Press – Lesotho. Mohale’s Hoek District Governor Mr Bahlakoana Tsolo pointed out that the plans they implemented during the Easter holidays have helped them significantly lower their Covid-19 figures compared to the Christmas holidays.

In an interview with Voice of the Nation, Mr Tsolo explained that his district had made a concerted effort to control the rate of Covid-19 infection during the Easter break.

He said they had developed the plan with the aim of welcoming visitors from South Africa to ensure that they were screened for Covid-19 and when they were not tested they were taken to health facilities for testing to prevent infection.

relatives as well as the general public.

He also pointed out that they made patrols in the marshes for the purpose of welcoming visitors and there to know their Covid-19 status.

“While we were waiting there we noticed that people were crossing in small numbers from South Africa compared to the Christmas holiday where they entered the country in large numbers which left the country as at risk of high Covid-19 infection rates, ”he said.

Continuing, Tsolo pointed out that it came to their notice that the Basotho working in South Africa had listened to the request of the Honorable Prime Minister Dr.

Moeketsi Majoro not to come home during the Easter holidays with the aim of reducing Covid-19 infections in the country especially as winter approaches which is why the infections are on the rise it is because so many people get the flu which is one of the symptoms of Covid-19.

“We have been greatly assisted by border patrols conducted in both countries to ensure that everyone complies with the rules set to reduce the rate of Covid-19 infection by the World Health Organization.

“Even in health facilities, the number of suspected cases of Covid-19 has been significantly reduced because even in self-isolation areas they are less than in the past,” he said.
