Africa-Press – Lesotho. District Disaster Management Team (DDMT) Leribe was on Tuesday sensitized on the Seasonal Weather Forecast 2025/2026 at a one-day workshop held at Hlotse in Leribe.
Addressing the team, Ministry of Environment and Forestry under Lesotho Meteorogical Services (LMS) Weather Forecaster Mr. Rethabile Mphahama said the seasonal Forecast entail looking into seasonal outlook associated with weather terminology and regions in the country.
Explaining seasonal outlook 2025/2026, Mr. Mphahama said for October, November and December normal to above rainfall is expected in the district.
Additionally, he elaborated that from November, December and January there is high possibility of above normal rainfall in Leribe.
“The same is expected for December, January, February and January February and March,” he stated.
He indicated that the bulk of Lesotho is likely to receive normal to above normal rainfall for the October, November and December season, 2025.
Moreover, he said for the following period covering the rolling seasons from November, December, January and December, January, February and January, February and March above normal rainfall conditions are expected to dominate.
He stated that the temperature outlook for the entire 2025/2026 rainfall season is expected to be mostly above long term averages.
Speaking at the same workshop, District Disaster Manager Leribe Mr. Mare Keketsi said the sensitization is important to all the government and non-governmental sectors as it help them in planning the activities.
