Africa-Press – Lesotho. Every year on this month I dedicate this piece to all the women In my life out of honour and respect. It’s the first without Mamsi, but like I said she got the whole bouquet while she could still smell them.
I love and honour you all my ladies. My friends. My sisters, my aunt’s. I love you all. This is for you. Happy women’s month If I were a Woman, I’d be a mother to all the worlds abandoned
children. I’d kiss them good-morning, feed their hungry tummies and rub their cracked aching heels. I would make their sullen eyes sparkle like diamonds and
fill their defeated souls with faith. I’d make them play, sing and laugh till they’re tired and they lie on their backs and fall asleep. If I were a Woman, I would balance my multiple roles and
expectations from others with grace. As I conquer life’s challenges and perform my daily tasks, I’d slay the dragons that keep my children up at night and have
high tea and shop with the girls. I’d remain a lady throughout. I would hold my lover close, wrap my body around his and make him explode with ecstasy as he
experiences the true essence of the unbridled passion of a woman. Never to want another, yet always yearn only for me. If I were a Woman, I’d walk through walls, grind into steel, slip
past windows and fly above mountains. I’d swim the rivers of doubt and wrestle the hurdles of prejudice without cracking a nail, tearing my work suit or
messing my hair-do. I’d be mummy dearest to my children. I’d stand with My Man, embrace my Family and always support my Friends: But I’d never lose Myself, for
I know, “The Lord is my Shepherd…” But I’m not a woman – Yet I admire all that Woman does. To all the Women in my life, I honour you. My Wife, My Mothers, My
Aunties, My Grannies, My Sisters, My Girls, My Nieces, My cousins, My Friends, My Colleagues… Happy Woman’s Day, Today, Tomorrow and Always. Abubacar Jabbie
