MASERU – Following the Measles Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign conducted in October 2025, Maseru District has recorded normal coverage levels, although they fell below the Ministry of Health’s target of 95 percent.

This was revealed by Maseru District Health Inspector, Ms. Lerato Tjabaka, during a feedback meeting on the MR campaign presented to the District Immunization Steering Committee (DISC) on Wednesday at the District Administrator’s boardroom.

Ms. Tjabaka reported that coverage among children aged nine to 11 months stood at 66 percent, while children aged 12 to 59 months recorded 55 percent coverage. She added that coverage for other interventions conducted during the campaign, including Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) and Vitamin A supplementation, reached 54 percent and 53 percent respectively.

She attributed the results to early engagement with community leaders prior to the campaign, stressing the importance of collaboration and community involvement in improving acceptance of vaccination programmes.

Ms. Tjabaka further noted that key lessons learnt from the campaign included the importance of inclusive strategies to reach children with disabilities and hard-to-reach populations.
