Africa-Press – Lesotho. SolidarMed Lesotho conducted a community awareness and Early Childhood Development (ECD) outreach at Ntsiking in the district on Wednesday.
SolidarMed is a Swiss organisation for health in Africa which aims to improve the health care for people in Lesotho and other countries in Southern Africa. In Lesotho, it operates in Mokhotlong and Butha Buthe only.
Speaking at today’s campaign, Ms. Lineo Saoana who is the Leap Start Lesotho Project Manager said the organisation is implementing a three year project on ECD to ensure a strong foundation for lifelong learning growth and welbeing for children in the district.
She said the project started last year and is expected to end next year with anticipated outcomes including to strengthen access and quality of essential ECD health services for caregivers, newborn and children under five years at health facilities in Mokhotlong.
Ms. Saoana said the campaign was meant to support relevant Ministries in the promotion of children’s wellbeing that include Health, Education, Agriculture and Social Development.
Speaking at the same event was Ms. Nthabiseng Mantutle, one of the nutritionist from Department of Agriculture and Food Security who urged parents and caregivers to embark on production of variety of vegetables to feed children well.
