ENOUGH IS ENOUGH TO CORRUPTION – ADV. BRIGADIER SELLO

Mokhotlong, Feb.25 — The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) has declared war against corruption and urges all to join forces to combat it for the development of the country.

The DCEO Director General Adv. Brigadier Mantso Sello said this when delivering his remarks at a one day Anti-Corruption Sensitisation Workshop for Head of Departments (HODs) and Private Sector held in the district on Wednesday.

He said following a report on Corruption Perception Index published by the International Transparency two weeks ago, that showed Lesotho ranking at number 99 out of 188 countries worldwide with high rate of corruption, DCEO declared war against the monster saying “Enough is Enough” to corruption.

Adv. Brigadier Sello said the ranking indicates that the country is doing badly in as far as corruption is concerned hence the need for all to report it so that it can be prevented.

“It is time for us to fix our country and say we are tired of corruption as the district”, he stressed.

He emphasised that the fight against corruption starts with everyone to ensure services are rendered as expected for protection of resources and promotion of the country’s economic development.

Speaking at the same event was the District Administrator for Mokhotlong Mr. Kepa Keqe who expressed concern over the low attendance and being unpunctual of HODs at the workshop.

He urged all of them to always attend in numbers they are expected to be provided with information they need for the development of the district.

One of the attendees, Mr. Teboho Mahemu thanked DCEO and pledged that they will collectively work tirelessly as public and private sector to ensure corruption is reported so that it can be rooted out for economic development.

The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences is the primary anti-corruption agency, established to combat economic crime through investigation, prosecution, and prevention.

It focuses on investigating corruption, public education, and prevention strategies.
