Africa-Press – Lesotho. Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) launched a new EcoSure product, EcoSure Group on Wednesday. EcoSure ‘Re Bolokehile’ is ETL’s insurance product underwritten by Lesotho National Insurance Group (LNIG).
The new product will allow for membership of grouped affiliates like stockvels, churches, corporates and Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) and their dependents.
Speaking at launch EcoSure General Manager ‘Matikoe Letsie, explained that EcoSure Group meets the requirements of burial societies and other groups that have come
together for a common financial good. Narrating on the background of EcoSure Re Bolokehile, Letsie said the product underwent various improvements in 2019,
saying then, they introduced a product called Family Group where people could add their family members to the Mpolokeng policy. “We have really been impressed
with the growth of Ecosure hence we continued to sit down with LNIG to brainstorm on other possible improvements and today we are happy to have reached yet another milestone,” she said.
The General Manager noted that Ecosure Group will mitigate the financial crisis and other challenges that come as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, adding that everyone
deserves a dignified sendoff hence Ecosure premiums a very affordable. She said Ecosure Groups allow membership from a minimum of 10 members. ETL Public Relations Officer Puleng Masoabi explained that Ecosure premiums have
always been payable through airtime but following recent developments, the premiums are now also payable throughEcoCash. She added that the policies now cover people from the age of 18 to 70 while
before it covered those from 18 to 65 years and there is an added benefit of M300 airtime during the event of loss. LNIG Head of Operations Maleshoane Phoofolo Mosoeu said they partnered with ETL
because they saw a need to sell insurance to Basotho through a mobile device and that was how Ecosure Re Bolokehile came about. She continued to say that Ecosure Group is here to reinforce the
unity that Basotho are well-known of. “Under this product, even people who already joined their own burial societies in their respective villages are welcome to join Ecosure Group,” she added.
