Africa-Press – Lesotho. MASERU – European Union (EU) Procurement Expert Dr. Pamela Marendi says, a well-structured procurement process ensures that businesses acquire services and goods effectively.
She said this when addressing end users’ participants at an ongoing workshop on Public Procurement Act 2023 currently going on in Maseru.
Addressing participants and giving an overview of the Act, the role of user department – procurement planning, development of specifications and initiation of procurement, the Expert indicated that through effective procurement processes, suppliers and government can grow for the benefit of the country and its people.

She added that the Act therefore provides that end users can be part of the procurement committees, thus are required by the law to conduct the processes fairly and disclose conflict of interest if any.
“As we do the entire process, we ought to know that we are procuring in the best interest of the public, thus decisions made should be pure and well informed,” she stressed.
